Major Taylor Elite Indy Mission Statement

The mission of Major Taylor Elite Indy is to promote good health by supporting recreational and social cycling activities in the community. Our membership is open to all, regardless of race, creed, or skill level. We are dedicated to safe and enjoyable cycling for all. We do this with inspiration from our namesake, Marshall Walter "Major" Taylor, who in 1899, became the 1st African-American world champion in cycling!

Who We Are

MTEI began in mid 2023 as the performance minded outlet for several members of the Bikes United Indy Cycling Club in Indianapolis, Indiana. As more and more cyclists, from all walks of life, got together to push each other to perform, the idea of a club dedicated to this objective became patently clear. With this in mind, Randall White, Dwight Cliff and Wendell Hoskins decided to make something happen!

Reaching out to influential and knowledgeable cyclists from around the city to around the country for input on how to provide a venue for true growth to all interested in cycling, Randy, Dwight and Wendell got down to work on the daunting task of establishing this club! Despite the challenges of such an endeavor, they are ecstatic about all the possibilities the future holds for MTEI!
